Iran and Oman agreed to open a route through Hormuz. Their foreign ministers announced a framework for a temporary shared shipping lane and said they would work to clear mines from the waterway, the first credible path to reopening a strait that has been shut since March. Brent fell about 3% toward $86 and WTI toward $80, a third consecutive down day that leaves crude off roughly 9% on the week. SPX closed 7,677, up 0.3%. Premarket 7,673.
The hedge came off with it. For five weeks oil took back every dovish repricing, and when that finally inverted on Monday the money leaving the war premium went into gold and Bitcoin instead of into equities. This morning both are lower, gold near $4,650 after a three-month high and Bitcoin back under $80,000, and futures are flat anyway. Nothing is catching it. That is not a view forming, it is a tape standing aside for core PCE at 8:30 and Nvidia after the close. The chip has fallen in response to its own earnings in six of the last eight quarters, including the last four, and it goes in having just snapped a seven-session losing streak with a 2.2% day.
Premarket sits eight points over the flip at 7,665, positive gamma with the thinnest cushion of the month, and back under the 8 EMA at 7,685 after one session above it. Overhead is friendly. The call wall is 7,700 and it is not dominant, with 7,715 nearly its equal, but the band from 7,705 through 7,730 comes to roughly 7,400 against the wall's 2,150, so clearing it pulls rather than caps. Underneath is what changed overnight. The put wall at 7,655 is the largest node anywhere today at about 4,300 and 7,660 adds another 2,600, so two strikes now carry what the whole downside carried yesterday. The 21 EMA sits on the put wall and the 20 SMA on the flip, which makes 7,655 to 7,669 a genuine three-way shelf.
The lean is long while 7,665 holds, and 7,669 is the better entry than paying up here. Eight points of room into a print is not a cushion, so size it small. Clear 7,700 and hold it and there is very little in the way to 7,730. Lose 7,665 and the two strikes underneath are the heaviest on the profile, which means the first break travels rather than bounces.

GEX Profile (Aug 26)
- Call Wall
- 7,700. Twenty-seven above premarket, and not dominant. The band from 7,705 through 7,730 comes to roughly 7,400 against the wall's 2,150, so it pulls rather than caps.
- Gamma Flip
- 7,665. Premarket eight over. Positive gamma, barely.
- Put Wall
- 7,655. Eighteen below, the largest node anywhere today at about 4,300, with 7,660 adding another 2,600 directly above it. Dense, so a break accelerates.
Call wall, gamma flip, put wall — what they mean and why they run the session.
