Samsung Drag, 7,550 Overhead

Key numbers

7,527.85
Premarket

SPX closed 7,537 yesterday — up 0.72% in the first session back from the holiday. Dow printed a record close above 53,000. Nasdaq led at +1.12%. Premarket this morning: 7,528. Small fade, 10 points below yesterday's close.

Samsung dropped nearly 10% in Seoul despite a blowout earnings beat — 19-fold jump in operating profit. Circuit breakers hit on the Kospi, which fell 4.91%. The chip selloff bled into U.S. premarket: Micron down ~5%, Broadcom, AMD, Marvell, KLA all lower. Nasdaq-100 futures lost 1%. Meanwhile, crude rose nearly 1% on reports of attacks on shipping near the Strait of Hormuz. NATO summit underway in Ankara. Fed minutes Wednesday. Earnings season starts with Levi Strauss Wednesday, PepsiCo Thursday, Delta Friday. VIX at 15.88 — still subdued.

We're 173 points above the gamma flip at 7,355. Deep positive gamma. The call wall at 7,550 is 22 points above premarket. The put wall at 7,475 is 53 points below. The 21-week EMA at 7,217 is 311 points away — irrelevant until Friday.

7,550 is the level. SPX tagged 7,537 yesterday and couldn't get there. If the chip selloff fades and we push through, that's new territory. If 7,475 breaks, the 8 EMA daily at 7,469 is right there.
