The US struck Iran around Hormuz on Tuesday. Trump called it retaliation for a failed attempt to lay sea mines in the strait and a missile launch at an American base in Jordan. Two tankers were hit leaving the waterway. WTI jumped 5.2%, its biggest day in five weeks, and Brent settled near $95. SPX closed 7,631, down 0.71%, the Nasdaq off 1.03%. ADP at 8:15, the Beige Book at two, payrolls Friday. Broadcom tonight. Premarket 7,640, up nine.

A week ago Brent was near $86 on a framework to reopen the strait. That round trip is complete. What changed is which end of the curve does the work: the thirty-year is back at 5.25% after clearing 5.30% Monday, the ten-year eased a basis point overnight, and the two-year sits at its highs near 4.4% with hike odds still climbing. For three weeks this was a term-premium story with the front end still. That has inverted. The bond market stopped pricing the inflation and started pricing the answer to it, into private payrolls that ran 44,000 in July, the weakest since January.

Premarket is ten points over the flip at 7,630, positive gamma after two sessions underneath it. Ten points is the whole cushion, and 7,630 carries more than gamma: yesterday's close and prior resistance both land within a point of it. No prior structure between 7,631 and 7,670, only thin positive gamma, so a push up runs to the 21-day. The call wall at 7,675 is twice its neighbour, and the band above sums twice the wall. A doorway. Underneath is the weight. The flip down to 7,450 sums nearly 27,000 of negative gamma, the heaviest of this run, and 7,580 is not one put wall but four negatives inside twenty points.

The lean is long against 7,630, and the entry is that level rather than 7,640: ten points of cushion is not worth paying up for into ADP. Clearing 7,670 opens the wall, and the band above 7,675 pulls rather than stalls. Losing 7,630 ends the long case. Below it nothing is structural until 7,616, with the heaviest negative gamma of this run beneath. 7,670 is where longs come off and the short gets its look.
