Record Close, Record Gap

Key numbers

7,775.04
Premarket

SPX is trading 7,775 premarket — a 39-point gap above yesterday's record close at 7,736. Four straight sessions higher. First print above 7,700 was yesterday. Now we're 39 points above it with no backtest. Before getting aggressive long up here, I want to see 7,736 hold on a pullback.

The rally has a tailwind. Trump said the Strait of Hormuz reopens "very soon" — oil below $75 for a fourth session. The Fed held at 3.5%–3.75% last week with three dissents favoring a hike. Paulson pushed back yesterday, saying current rates are sufficient. Earnings this morning: Disney, Uber, Lilly, Novo, Shopify. AMD down 7% after a soft beat. Arista up 14% on guidance. VIX at 16.15.

We're 235 points above the gamma flip at 7,540. Positive gamma. The call wall at 7,650 is 125 points below premarket — it's a support floor at this point, not resistance. The put wall at 7,475 is 300 points below. The 21-week EMA at 7,320 is 455 points away — irrelevant until Friday.

The gap level is 7,736. That's the reference point for today. If it backtests and holds, there's nothing overhead. If it doesn't, the call wall at 7,650 is the next anchor below.
